Meet Lisa Glasgow

Stress Therapist, Writer, Speaker.

Love what you do, just don't let it kill you.

This mosaic was on a wall in London. It spoke to me because I did indeed love my chosen career. For 30 years as an advertising Creative Director, I have traveled the world making TV commercials and marketing campaigns. I have lived in London, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Shanghai, and I’ve met the most amazing array of people. The one thing I didn’t like about it was the constant stress. It was always on, always striving for the next award, always rushing for the next deadline. The stress of it was killing people - literally. It was tragic. The rest of us were close to having breakdowns. Some probably did. It wasn’t talked about. When my ‘close’ moment came, I realised I had to do something to protect my health. So I became interested in how stress affects the body, and this is how I discovered Dr. David Berceli’s groundbreaking work and the practice of TRE®.

Returning to homeostasis or balance

After qualifying as a TRE® Provider in 2017, I began to run small groups with my team at the office. My team not only reported feeling less stressed, but I could see it also gave them a deeper sense of cohesion with their colleagues. This in turn resulted in better working relationships and less sick days.  When Covid swallowed this corporate job in 2020, I gradually started putting more of my time into working with TRE®; bringing stressed out clients back into balance. Since then I’ve conducted TRE® sessions for people at various festivals, including Feel The Fun Festival and the AIA Carnival, Hong Kong. I find it extremely rewarding to see people relax and smile again, after being completely strung out or emotionally shut down.

Learning not to be GOOD, but me

In 2023 I wrote my first book; “Why Being GOOD Is Bad for Us - the science behind how to be our healthy best selves”. This was published in February 2024. Relating to the book, I run workshops on extrinsic versus intrinsic GOOD behaviour patterns and how to reprogram our brains so we can stop being People Pleasers. I also became interested in Hypnotherapy and how that mentally complements the somatic healing of TRE®, so I am currently training to be an Integrated Clinical Hypnotherapist. I give talks and presentations on How to Reduce Exam Stress at schools such as Hong Kong’s French International School, and Newman Catholic College, and I am a regular school volunteer speaker for the Kely Support Group.

Personal life and mission

I am Mother to an amazing little boy who keeps me reminded of my personal life mission, which is to not be GOOD (aka a people pleaser), but to live as authentically as possible… and to reduce unhealthy stresses along the way. My professional mission is to help others do the same.
